Groundbreaking ceremony held for VinaSoy's new soymilk production facility in Bac Ninh
25 August—Tien Son Industrial Park in Bac Ninh. The Quang Ngai Sugar Company has held a groundbreaking ceremony for the soon-to-be constructed VinaSoy soymilk production facility in the northern Vietnamese province of Bac Ninh.
With an output estimated at one billion soymilk packs per year, the production facility will upon completion enter the list of the top five largest soymilk production facilities in the world.
The facility will boast a surface area of over 60,000 square meters stocked with the latest space-saving automatic production equipment from the Swedish group Tetra Pak and rated for quality assurance to the international standards of ISO 9001:2008, HACCP.
The first phase of construction is slated for completion in May 2013. When fully operational, the facility will provide work for over 200 directly employed laborers, as well as many indirect jobs linked to delivery and other services.
With output at over one billion soymilk packs per year, equivalent to the refined output of 14,000 tons of soybeans, the production facility represents the endpoint of a supply chain encompassing 7000 ha of farmland. This in turn guarantees income and quality of life for farmers in many parts of the Red River Delta, as well as providing a source of food for cattle and other reared animals from the estimated 20,000 tons of plant waste.
VinaSoy was founded in 1997 in Quang Ngai province under the control of the Quang Ngai sugar company and is dedicated to the production of soy products with high nutritional content.
